What is Riverside.fm?

Riverside solves a problem every podcaster knows: recording a remote guest without suffering the degraded quality of a Zoom call. Its technical trick is its real signature — each participant is recorded locally, on their own machine, in high quality (up to 4K), before the files are uploaded. The connection may crackle; the recording stays pristine.

On top of that solid base, Riverside layers AI to monetize the content: transcription, text-based editing (Descript-style) and 'Magic Clips' that automatically pull short, social-ready snippets. One tool, from recording to publishing.

Its limits are consistent: the free tier is capped in hours, the tool is clearly built for interviews and podcasts (not free-form creative editing), and final quality depends on each guest's local setup (a good mic is still a good mic). To record remote guests in studio quality, it's the reference. Check limits on the official site.
